Thomas A. Gutzwiller

Thomas A. Gutzwiller

Thomas A. Gutzwiller is member of the board of directors since 2006. In 2012, he assumed the position of Vice Chairman of the Board and 2013, he was elected by the General Assembly as President of the Board. 1988 Thomas A. Gutzwiller acted as co-founder of the international consulting firm The Information Management Group (IMG), St. Gallen and worked as its CEO from 1993 to 2006. Thomas A. Gutzwiller is associate professor since 1993 and senior professor for business administration with focus on information management at the University of St. Gallen since 2001. In 2006 he founded the consulting firm GWPartner AG, St. Gallen. Moreover, since 2006 he works for the Executive School for Management, Technology and Law at the University of St. Gallen.

Hans-Jürg Bernet

Hans-Jürg Bernet is a member of the board of directors since 2007. In 2013, he assumed the position of Vice Chairman of the Board. After his studies and PhD Mr. Bernet has been working in the insurance industry for around 30 years. Since 1977 he has been working for Zurich Financial Services in different leading positions. From 2001 to 2005 he was CEO of Zurich Financial Services Switzerland and from 2001 to 2004 member of the extended group management board of th Zurich Financial Services Group. Since 2006 Hans-Jürg Bernet runs his private company HJB Consulting/Coaching and works as a independent consultant.

Manuel Ammann

Since 2003, he is Professor of Finance at the University of St. Gallen and director of the Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance. He received his doctorate in 1998 at the University of St. Gallen. Subsequently, he held various academic functions at New York University, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of St. Gallen.

Andrea Cornelius

Andrea Cornelius has been a lecturer for Digital Technology, Entrepreneurship and Marketing Management at the Munich University of Applied Sciences since 2018. Before moving to teaching and research, she had been working for IBM in various management positions for 10 years. Prior to that, Andrea Cornelius worked for international companies such as Allianz, Computer Sciences Corporation CSC and T-Systems Enterprise Services. She completed her physics studies at the Ruhr University Bochum in 1987 and received her PhD in natural sciences from the University of Hamburg in 1991.

Claudia Gietz Viehweger

After the Master's degree. oec. HSG, University of St. Gallen in 1991 Claudia Gietz Viehweger worked at Zürcher Kantonalbank in various functions, including on mortgage financing and credit management and market research. 1998 Claudia Gietz Viehweger joined as a representative of the fifth generation in the family business Gietz AG in Gossau SG. Since 2001 she has been on the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer. The company employs approximately 80 employees and is one of the world's leading suppliers of machinery for the print finishing.

Kurt Rüegg

After qualifying as a Bachelor in Economics and Business Administration, he spent 13 years working for UBS in various positions in Switzerland and abroad, latterly as Chief Credit Officer Switzerland. From 1999, he built up the Swiss Capital Corporate Finance AG to one of the leading companies in the Swiss M&A market. 2014 he merged his company with the Europewide operating N+1 Group. In 2016 the company has been renamed to Alantra AG, where Kurt Rüegg acts as President of the Board of Directors and Managing Partner.

Adrian Rüesch

Hans Wey

Hans Wey started his career with a commercial apprenticeship and employment at the Berner Kantonalbank. In 1978 he finished training as Dipl. Auditor and held various positions for about 35 years for PricewaterhouseCoopers AG (PwC). From 1998 to 2008 he managed the audit of the section financial services Switzerland. From 2008 until his retirement on 30 June 2012, he was Chairman of the Board of PwC.

Benedikt Würth

Benedikt Würth has been delegated by the cantonal government of St. Gallen according to article 5 of the Cantonal Bank Law.

Benedikt Würth was the head of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Canton of St. Gallen from 2011 to 2016 and has been the head of the Department of Finance since 1st June 2016. As a member of the cantonal government, he represents the canton of St. Gallen as the main shareholder in the board of directors of the St.Galler Kantonalbank. Prior to his election to the Cantonal Government of St. Gallen in 2011, he was mayor of Jona for seven years (2000 - 2006) and mayor of Rapperswil-Jona from 2007 to 2011. Before that, Benedikt Würth worked, inter alia, for OBT AG, St. Gallen, where he was deputy head of the department public enterprises and member of the management.

Roland Ledergerber

Roland Ledergerber has been Chairman of the Management Board since February 1st, 2008.

Roland Ledergerber joined the St.Galler Kantonalbank (SGKB) in December 1998 as Head of Commercial Clients, later he acted as Sales Director and Deputy Head of Retail and Commercial Clients. In June 2002 he was appointed as a Member of the Group Management Board and assumed his new position as Head Retail and Commercial Clients. Before joining SGKB Ledergerber worked for UBS AG in various positions in Switzerland and abroad in the following departments: Controlling, Corporate and Institutional Banking Europe as well as Commercial Clients Switzerland.


Felix Buschor

Felix Buschor serves on the Management Board and acts as Head Service Center since April 1st, 2008.

Felix Buschor has been working for St.Galler Kantonalbank since 1996, from 1997 to 2000 he was in charge of the Controlling department. Later he led Organization and Advisory Department before assuming the position of Head Securities Back Office and Deputy Head Service Center in 2002. From 2005 to 2008 Buschor was also in charge of a major project that lead to the change of our IT platform to Avaloq. Before his time with St.Galler Kantonalbank Felix Buschor worked for the Swiss Banking Corporation in Basel for four years.


Albert Koller

Albert Koller is a Member of the Management Board and Head of Retail and Commercial Clients since February 1st 2008.

Since 1990 Albert Koller has been working in various leading positions for St.Galler Kantonalbank. Before his election, he lead the department Private and Commercial Clients in our East Switzerland market region.


Christian Schmid

Christian Schmid was appointed Member of the Management Board and Head Finance & Risk Management on August 1st, 2008.

Before Schmid was CEO of RSN Risk Solution Network AG since 2004. From 1999 to 2003 Christian Schmid already worked for St.Galler Kantonalbank, at this time as Head of Credit Portfolio Management and Head of Business Development in Retail & Commercial Banking.


Hanspeter Wohlwend

Dr. Hanspeter Wohlwend serves on the Management Board and acts as Head of Private Banking since March 1st, 2018.

Before that, from 2016 - 2017 he was Head of Group Product Management at Liechtensteinische Landesbank AG. From 1995 - 2015, he worked for Notenstein Privatbank AG and its predecessor company Wegelin & Co. Privatbankiers in St. Gallen in various management functions. Since 2007, he was a member of the Executive Board. From 2007 - 2012, he was head of the operations division, from 2012 - 2015 he was Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO.
